Howard Pyle was born in 1853 and died in 1911. Famous as a unique illustrator, his artwork appeared regularly in Harper's Weekly, and in many other American magazines. In 1894 he began teaching illustration at Drexel University. In 1900 he founded his own art school, where he taught such notable students as Maxfield Parrish, Olive Rush, Jessie Willcox Smith, and N.C. Wyeth. Howard Pyle had a keen interest in romantic chivalric history, and wrote several self-illustrated adventure stories for young people. These included The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood, The Wonder Clock, The Garden Behind the Moon, The Story of King Arthur and His Knights, Howard Pyle's Book of Pirates, and The Black Shield of Falworth.
Robert Mansell was born in London. Our Renaissance man (besides being a talented classical music composer, lyricist, and real estate developer) has appeared in numerous theatrical productions, including My Fair Lady, Hello Dolly, The Philadelphia Story, The Wizard of Oz, and HMS Pinafore. His own acclaimed creation 'Willm S' (Shakespeare, that is) will soon be touring nationally. Robert recently performed an intriguing one-man show entitled 'One on One' in Sarasota Florida.
